My name is Hristo Vladev. During the period 1992-1998 I used to work as a staff photographer for many Bulgarian daily newspapers. Since 2000, I have been working as a freelance photojournalist focused on news coverage and creation of documentary stories for international news agencies and NGOs. I mainly work in Bulgaria and the Balkan Peninsula. In the stories I tell I consider people being important, as well as their feelings and emotions. I try to go in the depths, to reach the bottom of the event, to figure out and capture the causes for it. I am keen on being honest and objective and to approach with respect because I believe that photojournalism is not only photography but responsibility as well. In 2007, I realized a photographic documentary project "Life in the Spirit" - a story about the life in God’s service of the monks in the Orthodox monastery St.St. "Cosmas and Damian", near the village Gigintsi, Bulgaria. With the implementation of this project and the accompanying exhibition began a campaign for the renovation of the monastery. In 2009, I collaborated with a team of photographers with the support of the Municipality of Pernik on documenting the traditional custom "Surva". In 2010, I took part in the photographic project "The Magic of Strandja Mountain", capturing the lives of people in the remote villages in Stranja Mountain. I have participated in several photographic exhibitions: "Kukerlandia" - Yambol 2012, "Spirit of traditions" - Sofia 2011, "Architectural details" - Sofia 2011, "Weeks of Photography in Plovdiv - 2004 and 2009. I am currently working on the photographic project "People"-a series of photographs of the life of ordinary people on the Balkan Peninsula.
